Shareable Video

Video is a powerful medium in storytelling, but as social media platforms increasingly influence news consumption, shareable video is becoming a critical tool for innovative newsrooms to grow their audiences and attract new visitors to their online content.

To that end, the State of Democracy team launched a series of shareable videos with a New Hampshire Primary series called "Elevator Pitch." These annotated short videos featured digital reporter Casey McDermott asking candidates to give their presidential pitch during the elevator ride up to NHPR's studios prior to candidate forums.

Topics for future videos could include a "meet your legislator" series, videos in which New Hampshire kids ask questions designed to provoke lawmakers to share their policy ideas, profiles of undecided voters or non-voters, and illustrated videos explaining the policies behind the things that have an impact in the daily lives of New Hampshire residents.
